Job description: Plumbing Apprentice

Plumbing Apprentice Duties: Apprentices will ride with a technician each day to observe and get hands on experience in order to succeed in their own service van as a plumbing technician.
- Assist plumbers by performing rough-ins, repairing and replacing fixtures, and locating and repairing leaking or broken pipes.
- Maintain cleanliness of work truck and shop.
- Fit and repair various household appliances.
- Cut, solder and assemble pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures.
- Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler, and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
- Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
- Assist plumbers to complete work orders.
- Practice performing drain cleaning for main sewer lines, kitchen lines, grease interceptor lines, etc.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
- Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
- ·Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting plumbing work
